This year was maybe the first year I have ever missed the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics. I have heard it was quite the event. Although I did not get to watch the entire Opening Ceremonies, I did catch the lighting of the Olympic Flame. I thought it was good and cool with what they did, but for me nothing will beat the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. This was when Mohammad Ali light the cauldron. I will never forget that moment seeing him rise out of no where, a great man, a great athlete, who fought some of the toughest men, now fighting Parkinson’s Disease honorably lighting the cauldron. I got chills watching the video.
I think my favorite part of the Olympics would be the Opening Ceremonies. Good Luck USA. Take home the gold.
