So I have been on summer break for a little over two weeks now. And most of what I have been doing is watching movies. Ever since I started my Netflix account thats what I end up doing most days. And I like it cause I am able to catch up on movies I didn’t get to watch. I think I am a little obsessed with it right now. I have been watching a lot of movies, some of which are pretty good movies. Aside from watching movies at home I have also watched two really good movies out in theaters too. Up and Hangover. Both movies I recommend for people to watch. I also recommend Secret Life Of Bees, Into the Wild, and Smart People .

I know it has been a long while since I have last blogged. And I apologize. Today, I saw something pretty funny. It was the Tv’s 50 Funniest Phrases. This special, on NBC,was counting done to the funniest catchphrases on ever on television. It was pretty funny. Some of the phrases were all very recognizable and they varied from very old to the fairly new. Such as In Living Color’s “Hated it” to Bart Simpson’s “eat my shorts.” Here is the list of the funniest catchphrases.

“To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffering.”

– Viktor Frankl

I heard this quote several times in my religious studies class. It was not until yesterday that I actually started to think about the meaning of what it is saying. The man who wrote/said this was a Holocaust surviver. Viktor Frankl before the Holocaust was a doctor of neurology and psychiatry. While he was in the concentration camp wrote a manuscript called The Doctor and the Soul, but that was destroyed when they found it. He did let this discourage him. It became he driving force and hope to be reunited with his family. Unfortunately, his family did not survive. He wrote another book called Man’s Search for Meaning. This man despite everything continued to live and continue to make his life have a meaning.

When I heard that the quote above was a said/written by a Holocaust surviver it then somewhat made sense. But isn’t it so true. We continually complain in what we do not have, what has happened to us, we as a society tend to focus on the negative rather than the good that comes out of lives. But why? It does nothing, but bring us down more. The bad things happen in our lives for a reason and they shape who we are. The suffering we endure during our live can help us be stronger and better people, but that is not possible unless we understand the good that came from the suffering. When we survive or overcome the suffering, we learn from it. We are able to have this understanding for our life. It helps us gain fulfillment in our own lives.

Yesterday, I found out that my boyfriend, J Diaz, got an internship with Mattel. So very very proud of him. I knew he would be able to get it. He is very talented if you don’t believe check out his online portfolio here. He is probably going to hate me for putting that link up for you guys to see. But yeah, I don’t care cause I am very happy for him. I knew he had enough talent to get it.

I know I said I would post everyday during break and I did not. Apologies. I have just been enjoying my spring break. Been reading a lot over the break. I am rather embarrassed to say what I was reading, but I enjoy reading. There is something about being able to escape ones life and enter a world imagination, fantasy, romance or what have you. For me personally, I can get so immersed in the book I forget what is happening around me. And all I see is what is happening in the book.

I just somewhat recently picked up leisure reading. I am glad I did, but I feel like I have so many years to catch up on cause there are so many good books out there old and new that I won’t be able to get to them all.

Ramble ramble ramble. That’s all I seem to be done lately on this blog. Hopefully next time I will have some content that may enrich your lives. AHAHAHA.

I am finally on spring break, but I have nothing to do. My much anticipated spring break is not filled which much.

Kina Grannis, a very talent singer, covered the song “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” by Iron and Wine. This song speaks so much volumes and I already love this song as it is. Kina’s cover is just as good. She put a little of her own twist to it and I like it. She is a very talented artist and you should check out her other covers and originals.

For those of you who do not know this Iron and Wine version of the song was in the movie Twilight. Where it was placed for the movie was perfect. This song is so deep and touches my heart every time I hear it. I get this weird heart palpitation (I know I am weird, get over it. I warned you all before that I am). I don’t know how to explain it, but I guess this song just speaks to me. If you haven’t heard the original here it is. This is a live version of the song.

This weekend I purchased the Twilight DVD. I also watched most of the special features. I have not gotten to finish them all yet because I bought the Target version and been watchign it with my little sister. I found the specail features fun. I really liked them. I found many things funny. Like I watched the commentary of the movie and there was very interesting things said amoungst Kristen Stewart, Catherine Hardwicke, and Robert Pattinson. It was cool seeing the various extended scenes and deleted ones too.

This weekend I watched so much Twilight because I first watched it with my cousins and a few of my church buddies, then i watched it with my parents before I left for the week. So, this whole weekend has been all about Twilight for me. I must say though. It has gotten me excited again for New Moon. Also, to read the Twilight again and possibly the other books in the serious too.

If you haven’t seen or read either the movie or book give it a try you never know you might like it.
