I was reading about a story about a young boy who shot his grandparents while they were sleeping. To later, burn down the house and flee. This young boy was only 12 years old when he committed the crime. He was charged as and adult and is sentence to 30 years without parole.

The boy, who is now 18, wants to appeal his sentence and has a civil suit on his former defense counsel for being ineffective. In this appeal they are trying to claim that the sentencing for him was too harsh for someone of his age during the time. The defense was trying to claim during the initial trial that the young boy was on antidepressants that caused his violent outbursts. To be honest, I think he got what he deserved because he killed his grandparents, set fire to the house, and tried to flee. To me that sounds like the kid knew exactly what he was doing
